The Ghana Statistical Service has today released the Ghana 2022 Annual Household Income and Expenditure Survey (AHIES) third quarter Labour statistics.
At the launch of the report in Accra Government Statistician at the Ghana Statistical Service, professor Samuel Anim reviled that about 1.76.million person’s were unemployed in the third quarter of 2022.
Within this population he said two out of every three unemployed person’s were females . Across the three quarter, about 157,000 person’s experience d an unemployment spell, that is they were unemployed in all the quarters.
He stated that close to 7.5million person’s remained employed through out the three quarters out of the about 11 million person’s employed in each quarter. This indicate that across the three quarters about 3.5 million person’s were moving in and out of employment depicting vulnerabilities.
Prof. Anim said with these key takeaways would looked out for the 1.57,000 unemployed person’s across the three quarters and and proposed to Government to include as part of his intervention and policy to target these 1.57,000 people.
He called on Government to place much emphasis on the unemployed and those who are dimensionally poor.
