A leading member of the ruling new patriotic party Mr Hopson Yaovi Adorye has stated that the tradition of npp which is Danquah, Bussia, Dambo must go on as it has been and must be protected.
speaking to party members during a walk organized by a group in the party in support of Allan Kyeremateng’s future flagbearership , Hopeson explain that ever since the party was formed the flagbearership has been between the Danquah and Bussia lineage with the Dombo lineage always being the running mate. So he does not understand the reason for which some people want to change that tradition of which he stated that this is a clear mathematics which needs no calculator.
He further explained that the Danquah stands for those in the Eastern Region, Bussia for those in Ashanti and Bono Region while the Dombo for those in the Northern part of Ghana. He said in 1992 Adu Boahen who was the flag bearer for the party and from the Danquah lineage chose someone from Dombo lineage as running mate, in 1996 former president J.A Kufour from the Bussia lineages chose a northerner as his running mate and President Akufo Addo from the Danquah lineage in the year 2016 also choose someone from the Dombo lineage as his running mate. He believe it is time someone from the busia lineage to take the mantle as flag bearer for the 2024 General Election.
Hopeson said he finds it quite confusing some members of the party want to abandon the tradition of the party by going for someone from the Dombo lineage this time.
He then urge party members in Ashanti region and delegates to rally together and vote for Alan Kyeremateng to take the flagbearership mantle to win power coming 2024.
The walk was named “ADURU WOSO WALK” in support of Allan Kyeremateng.
