A Health expert and a lecturer at Nyaniba Health College, Dr. Eric Asamoah has advised parents and aged persons to avert themselves from too much in-take of meat to protect themselves from getting hypertension but rather allow children mostly to take more meat.
According to Dr. Eric, hypertension is on the rise in the country specifically Kasoa in the Central Region and it their research revealed that the cause of the situation can be attributed to too much in-take of meat, self-medication and failure on the side of people to exercise regularly.
The health expert cited that, the act of self-medication is also becoming a huge challenge and it posses threat on our health. He said mostly people take-in paracetamol because they believe it can cure, however Dr. Eric noted that most at times the it’s as a result of the hypertension and as that instead of the person to visit the Doctor, they took medicine which has a major impact on our health in the long run.
He further explain that, about 90 to 95% of people are suffering from high Blood pressure but due to ignorance they do not give it pepper attention to cure it. Dr.
He made this known to Obaatanpa news Nana Yaw as part Nyaniba Health College’s 2022 SRC week celebration when the school organized a free health screening for people within Kasoa and it’s environs.
Some people who used the opportunity to check their health status expressed appreciation to the school authorities and the nurses for friendly relationship they had with them.
