C/R: AKUFFO ADDO DIES AFTER CHALLENGING TO SWIM IN A RIVER

A 16-year-old boy, Kwesi Akufo-Addo is suspected to have drowned in a stream in Nkwanta in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region. He has however been pulled off in the Brafor Stream after drowning over challenging his friends that he can swim in a river in an argument.

The victim’s friends upon noticing that their friend was not able to come out of the river then reported it to the Nkwanta Unit Committee member, Mr Kwesi Amfoh which drew attention of many.

Based on the complain by the friends, the Unit Committee member and Okyeame Okanto proceeded to the scene and noticed that the incident is true.

Nana Essandoh, the Chief of the area in an interview said, the community members led the search team to find the boy but he was nowhere to be found, but they were only able to trace and find the victim after pouring libation later in the evening.

Nana said, the victim died because he challenged his friends that he can swim and Nana in advised told the community and the General Public to desist from such act or argument because it is the most dangerous thing one would do.

The victim’s remains was found in the water around before 6:25pm in the evening where he was pronounce dead.

Information gathered reveals that the victim challenged the Brafor stream while fishing which resulted his sudden demise.

The police personnel deployed to the scene have conveyed the deceased to the Saltpond Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
