The traditional Council of Gomoa Fetteh ,has cautioned against the use of firearms during the celebration of the Gomoa Fetteh Ahobaakese festival. According to the council, motorbikes will also not be allowed in the township during the season.
According to them, for them to celebrate it without any disturbances the above mentioned instructions need to be observed accordingly.
In order to avert any of such incident, the traditional council of Gomoa Fetteh during the observation of the Akwambo which is an initial rite of the celebration of the festival announced that usage of firearms or live ammunition would not be entertained except gunpowder.
Even with that, only persons designated for the firing of musketry would be allowed.
The traditional council has also as part of security measures announced that, motorbikes would not be allowed entry into the Gomoa Fetteh township.
The traditional council cautions that, anybody spotted carrying a firearm would be handed over to the police even if the weapon is licensed.
Meanwhile, a designated zone with security at the outskirts of the town has been earmarked for the parking of motorbikes
The Omankrado of Gomoa Fetteh traditional council, Nana Kwasi Kwansah made this known to Mireku Nyampong.
Meanwhile, Queen mother of Gomoa Fetteh Nana Abena Ewusiwaa II has admonished female patrons of the occasion to put up decent dresses. She has ruled out the mentality that the observation of the Akosolontoba widely known as Atopa dance promotes promiscuity but rather a dance if culture.
The dance in olden days was performed by singles to select marriage partners.
