The District Chief Executive officer for Gomoa East Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm has said, his outfit is working tirelessly to curb Landguards activities in Gomoa East District.
According to the Disec chairman, traditional authorities must be blamed for encouraging Landguards activities in the name of using them to protect their lands .
He explained that, whiles the district Assembly and police are doing their possible best to stop Landguardism , traditional authorities were also busily recruiting Landguards but will tell you they are “Asafo” that has made the fight against the unlawful activities very difficult.
He mentioned this to Mireku Nyampong , the DCE made this known during the District Mid year Assembly meeting held today to access the performance of the Gomoa East Assembly.
Moreover, Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm however noted that, the Assembly has put punitive measures in place to construct over nine footbridges, additional school infrastructure, Chip zones, electricity extension and other developmental project in some parts of the Gomoa East District after the mid year assessment.
Due to this the residents has appeal to the IGP and the Assembly to come to their aid,
the residents has call on the Inspector General of Police Cop Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and interior minister Hon. Ambrose Dery to intervene since Languards activities is rapidly rising in the area.
Landguards nowadays are seriously terrorizing them on daily basis destroying lives and properties a situation they described as disturbing and worrying.
We are living in fear since the activities of Landguards are too pathetic and dangerous nowadays, series of petitions on such unlawful activities were sent to Central East Regional police command but it yielded no results, they alleged.
