EDUCATION ON RTI LAW MUST BE INTENSIVE TO CATCH INSTITUTIONS ATTENTION… EXECUTIVE SECERTARY, RTI COMMISSION

Executive Secretary of Right to Information Commission, Yaw Sarpong Boateng has disclose some challenges confronting release of information to people with respect to right to Information law.

 

According to him institutions thus not fully understand RTI law of which the public needs massive education such that people will know and understand that, right to Information law has waved any oath of secrecy .

This he said will help in given information with respect to right to Information law.

Mr Sarpong discloses this to media at the stakeholders engagement to mark Right to Information week celebration organize by Right to Information Commission.

The Right to Information (RTI) ACT 2019, Act 989 empowers all persons to have access to information from public institutions and relevant private bodies in order to promote transparency and accountability.

 

It gives the RTI Commission the mandate to promote, monitor, protect and enforce the right to information that is granted to a person under Article 21 (1) (f) of the constitution. The public lecture, which was under the theme: “Your Right to Access Information and the Role of the Commission” brought together lecturers and students of the Ho Technical University, as well as some members of the general public.
