The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Asante Presbytery Celebrated 100 years Anniversary under the theme, 100 YEARS OF EVANGELISTIC, AND ECCLESIASTICAL WORK IN ASANTE: THE PAST, THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE. It was a colorful ceremony, graced by many dignitaries.
At the Thanksgiving Service at Kumasi Jubilee Park, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt Rev Prof J.O.Y Mante called on the government to cut down expenditure to bring relief to the country.
He appealed that if possible the size of government can be cut down the President should not hesitate.
He therefore made a turn on galamsey, highlighting that is a demonic activity meant to destroy our lands, forests, and water bodies. He called on the general public, Christians and Muslims to stay away from Galamsey.
Meanwhile Hon John Alan Kojo Kyeremateng, Minister for Trade and Industry, who was at the program as guest, addressing the congregation expressed that, it is obvious that the country is in crisis and finding solutions to the challenges is the most important part.
He stressed that most great nations we see today passed through similar challenges but with belief and hard work there were able to come out stronger.
However he said to his belief, the battle confronting the country is both Physical and spiritual, and government is putting down measures to deal with the physical aspect.
Whiles he called on Ghanaians to support the country with their prayers to also deal with the spiritual aspect.
The representative of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the program was, Asafohene, Akyamfuor Asafo Boakye Agyeman Bonsu.
He assured that the vision of the Asante Presbytery to build a hospital as a monument to signify the 100 years of their existence will be supported by the traditional council and provide a plot of land for the project.
