GLOBAL CITIZEN FESTIVAL SET TO PROJECT GHANA’S TOURISM.DEPUTY MINISTER OF TOURISM

The deputy minister of Tourism, Mark Okraku Mantey has reiterated Government commitment to project Ghana’s tourism across the globe through any medium such as the Global Citizen Festival which is an international advocacy organization and a global movement .

The mission for the global citizen festival according to the minister is to defeat extreme poverty now, defend and planet, demand equity and achieve the UN Global Goals.

Hon. Mantey said the festival which is set off on the 24th September at black Star Square in Accra comes about when the organisation researches and selects causes to support, and then suggests actions for it’s members to take in support of those causes. This he said include sending tweets to organizations like the united Nations in support of reducing pollution, signing petition to support gender equality, sending pre-written emails to politicians to increase international aid.

The minister discloses this to media at the official launch of the global Citizen Festival Accra in Accra.

Chief Executive Officer and co_founder of Global citizen Hugh Evans said the festival is set to add to the $41 billion in commitments they have secured over the past decade from governments, the private and philanthropic sectors, that have impacted over 1 billion lives around the world.

He said a decade of systemic and Political failures have led humanity into the midst of converging and rapidly deteriorating crises.

He said the festival seek to eradicate poverty in the years to come.
