The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East and Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson today October 9, 2022 commenced the distribution of Mathematical sets to all 8,318 candidates for 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination.
The number comprises 4,850 students from 239 private schools and 3,748 students from public schools. Schools visted today included St. Martha’s Catholic School, Emmanuel Presby, High Class Int. School, Iron city Basic school, Banat Abullah Islamic school, Sheik Shaributu Islamic School, Islamic Research school, Salmaniya Islamic school, Pentecost Preparatory school and Bediako Memorial school.
Others were; Methodist Basic school, Oduponkpehe M/A Basic school, AME Zion Basic school, Young Executive school and Kumbe Islamic Basic school. The entourage finally visited Akweley St Mary’s Anglican Cluster of schools, ICODEHS Islamic School, Ofaakor M/A cluster of schools and Nahadatu Islamic Basic school to wrap up the day. Lower primary and KG pupils also received school uniforms as part of the package.
The exercise is expected to continue on Wednesday until every candidate is served.
Obaatanpa,as she is affectionately referred to by many, admonished the candidates to eschew any act that could put their future in jeopardy and focus solely on their books in order to have brighter future. She spoke against engaging in examination malpractices and relying on leaked questions. According to her,the government’s implementation of the Free Senior High School has removed any barrier related to cost and has presented an equal opportunity to everyone poor or rich to realise their dreams. She called on parents to relieve their children who are candidates of all house chores in order for them to have ample time for their books.
She was accompanied by; The MCE – Hon. Anita Oboh Love Amissah, Municipal Director of Education – Ms. Faustina Alimatu Braimah, Deputy Director of Coastal Development Authority – Mr. Emmanuel Affram Anim, Mr. Salia A. Issahaku – HRMD(ASEM), Mr. Emmanuel Acquah – F&A (ASEM) and a host of other supporters of the MP.
