Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson is on a 2-day working visit to Côte d’lvoire from 2-5 August 2022.
The purpose of the working visit is to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire in fisheries and also discuss issues of mutual concern.
The issues raised on August 3rd, 2022 at the Animal Resources and Fisheries Ministry by Ghana’s Fisheries Minister were as follows:
(1) Regional Approach to fight lllegal, Unregulated and unreported (IUU) Fishing in the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC) Area.
(2) Observance of Regional Closed Season the FCWC Area.
(3). Regional Approach to the Management of the Small Pelagic Fish Species, which is a shared fishing resource in the FCWC Area.
(4) Reactivate the Joint Research Program between Ghana and Cote d’lvoire.
(5) Operationalize the FCWC protocols on Regional Observer Program and Joint Patrols since it is best way of fighting IUU at the regional level.
