A presidential staffer, Robert Tetteyfio Adjase has condemned the brutality meted out to residents of Nuaso Old Town, in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region as he blames the military for exceeding their limit.
Mr Tetteyfio Adjase who is the Head of Assets at the Jubilee House said, the military personnel stepped beyond their boundaries in the line of duty.
The military officers were reported to have brutalized some residents of Nuaso Old Town for allegedly resisting the installation of the prepaid meters and threatening to hurt the Electricity Company of Ghana staffs.
The encounter led to the hospitalization of some persons who sustained varying degrees of injuries as a result of gunshots, beatings among others.
Meanwhile the Electricity Company of Ghana has however denied allegations concerning the Nuaso brutalization.
The presidential staffer reacting to the development said the actions of the military personnel must be condemned despite the resistance the ECG officers were met with from “stubborn” residents.

“We knew some of the residents proved stubborn but to the extent that military personnel shooting live bullets against the residents, for that one I condemned that act,” Mr Tetteyfio stated remarked when he visited the victims who were on admission at the St. Martins De Porres Hospital.
He therefore urged the military personnel to put an end to the act which happening at the area for peace to prevail.
