Since its establishment a couple of years ago, the Moshie zongo health center in Manhyia North constituency in Kumasi Metropolis of Ashanti region has not seen any renovation.
The facility admits patients from Moshie Nzongo, Yenyawoso, and other adjoining communities within the Metropolis.
Patients, especially pregnant women suffer the most, when it comes to the poor state of the facility and roads network.
According to George Ntiakoh Mensah, a facility Head said, each time pregnant women come for delivery, things become more difficult as there is no convenient toilet facility.
What’s worse is the unavailability of a toilet facility challenges for workers and patients, patients traveling afar for convenient.
“We are facing a lot of challenges here, no toilet facility, the access roads to the health center is in deployable state and a huge gutter in front of the facility cause fear and panic among staff and patients who attend to the facility.
“Another worrying thing is we have water problem too. There is a poly tank outside, but it’s too small and each time the water is finished, we are in trouble, pregnant women are in trouble”.
A check at the facility by our reporter SARKODIE PEPRAH reveals that the roofing on the building are leaking, the walls are cracked, generating panic among both staff and patients who fear that the facility may collapse soon.
Outside the facility is a one dilapidated urinal which serves for users of the facility.
The facility has only four functional beds that are used even in the most complicated situations.
Assembly member in the electoral area Hon. EMMANUEL Nti Kyei said that the patients sometimes forced to stay at home whenever they are sick or travel some distance to access health care at any other facility as a result of the devastating state of the facility.
He therefore call on NGOs, Metro Health directorate, Regional Health Director, Emmanuel Tinkorang and Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to come to their aid.
