The former director general of Ghana education service; Professor Akwasi Opoku Amankwa as part of his effort to ensuring better and easy accessible education for children in the Birim South district of Eastern region has presented provision packages to over six hundred and forty students who have successfully passed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and have gotten admission into Senior High Schools.
Speaking to the media, Prof. Akwasi Opoku Amankwa explained that he has formed an education foundation to help the “needy but brilliant children” in his district of which he sponsored for extra classes for all BECE candidates last year which has helped almost all the students passed the BECE exams and have gotten admission into their choice of Senior High schools.
He added that he will continue to assist parents and children in his area because education is very important and a priority to him which has made him become a professor and a director general of Ghana education service hence he would love to have more of his kind in his area.
The Birim South district director of education; Mr. Henry Sintim speaking to the media after the presentation of items to the children showed much appreciation to Prof. Akwasi Opoku Amankwa for his support for the district in terms of education and also disclosed that his effort of financing for extra classes for all the BECE candidates last year has really made all the children performed creditably in the BECE.
The district chief executive for Birim South district; Hon. Asare Danso who was part of the presentation of items to the students also expressed much gratitude and appreciation to Prof. Akwasi Opoku Amankwa for his care and support for all the school children in his district since he assumed office as the DCE and still doing it.
Some of the children who received their provision packages from Prof. Akwasi Opoku Amankwa speaking to the media expressed their excitement and sincere gratitude to Prof. Akwasi Opoku Amankwa for his support and prayed God to keep blessing him in all his endeavor.
